Bovey's Down Farm and Camp Site

This is a rural area with the farm being home to a herd of Aberdeen Angus cattle, producing the finest Devonian beef. You and the family can enjoy the various sights of country living on our working farm. Young calves suckling their mothers, a great diversity of bird life plus possibly the occasional fox or badger can be seen.

Back at our homestead there are ducks and hens for the children to see or, if you prefer, spend some time in the picnic area and enjoy the serenity of nature at your own leisure.

If home produced food is your passion, check out our farmhouse kitchen for a wide selection of cakes, pies, traditional East Devon pasties, and our famous home made Aberdeen Angus burgers. Rib eye steaks and even gluten free sausages, for a camp fire breakfast or BBQ, are available.

You can always order our speciality bread for breakfast or supper.

Gerald and Pamela Sweetland have been at Bovey's Down Farm for the past 20 years and come from a long line of local farmers, who date their ancestry in the Colyton area, back to the 1600s.

Our 20 acre farm is home to cows, geese, chickens and various breeds of ducks. Fresh eggs and other farm produce is available on site.

As part of our working farm we diversified into providing a rural retreat camp site in 1993 and have been welcoming visitors ever since.

The camp site is less than 15 minutes drive from the popular seaside resorts of Sidmouth, Seaton, Branscombe and Lyme Regis

The farm is only a couple of miles from The Hare and Hounds, a bustling, rural pub famous for its carveries.

Golf

Honiton Golf Club is an 18 hole course about 2 miles from the camp site and offers reasonable green fees.

Campsite Walks

Walks through the country lanes and bridleways are to be enjoyed, but best of all is the farm walk and talk given by Gerald as he strolls around to see the stock, spotting what nature has to offer, varying with the seasons.

Located only 16 miles from the M5, 4.5 miles from Honiton and 8 miles from the popular beach resort of Sidmouth, Bovey's Down Farm is the ideal base for your perfect camping holiday.

Directions
From Honiton: Follow the signposts to Sidmouth; At the Hare and Hounds Public House turn left; as you pass Lower Knapp Farm on your right Bovey's Down Farm is the first turning on the left (signposted 'Southleigh') and then immediately left again into the farm gate. (Keep a lookout for the arrowed 'Camping' signs.)
