The Old Rectory Caravan and Camping Park

At the heart of the Tamar Valley you will find our small patch of paradise offering self-catering breaks in our adorable camping pods, spacious tent or EHU pitches. We love glamping (glamorous camping) so offer this in the form of our pods.. timber carpeted huts which are windproof and dry, an oil heater and a lamp offer heat and light.. the more sophisticated form of camping!

Children and dog friendly; we cater for everybody, working on a zero discrimination tolerance policy we ensure everybody gets the relaxing holiday they deserve. We try to promote a country lifestyle here at The Old Rectory so avoid commercialisation and aim for simplicity meaning we don't provide an onsite shop. However we do offer our campers the opportunity to really get stuck in with sampling self-sufficiency by selling our homegrown, free-range eggs sausages and bacon.

To add to the self sufficient country feel our guests pay for the produce via an honesty box which can be found at our shower block. Newly renovated, this offers a disabled wash room, free to use showers/ toilets, hairdryer, full length mirror, veg preparation area, laundry facilities, welly loan, book exchange, welly and bike wash area and extensive recycling facilities which we encourage guests to take advantage of.

Other facilities to benefit from include a children's play area, dog walking area, free range friendly chickens and geese, you're also sure to meet our dogs, Sid and Clyde, our piggies and miniature ponies Tom and Jerry. Star gazing enthusiasts and anybody else who appreciates natural beauty benefit from our unpolluted view of the night sky which shows off an array of wonderful stars. The only lighting used around the site is solar, just enough to guide you back to bed but not enough to look unnatural or intrusive.

Our bus stop connects you to the local eclectic town of Tavistock, which has regular buses to the city of Plymouth, or if wanting a more picturesque journey to the city why not catch the bus to the town of Gunnislake to connect with the train.

If you're wanting to discover more from Devon then there is so many things to do during your stay! Excellent walks on Dartmoor, Tamar Trails from which you can walk to Edwardian farms Morwellham Quay, the exhilarating tree surfing, local bicycle hire, Trethorne Leisure Park, Gawton mountain biking trail, Drake Circus shopping mall, Tavistock's award winning market town, traditional honest country pubs, fine dining country hotel and restaurant 'The Horn of Plenty', theatre royal, many national trust sites, national marine aquarium, Dartmoor zoo.
