Wild Luxury Thornham Bay

A camping holiday at Wild Luxury is like having a Famous Five adventure with the added bonus of staying in gorgeous, well equipped, safari tents. The decadent tents can sleep a family of 6 in style with running water, an Aga style wood burning cooker complimented with a gas stove, private loo and showers. Children will delight in the space, fresh air and the adventure of it all.
There are two sites to choose from on the Norfolk Coast, with the same luxurious safari lodges at each.

Set amongst apple orchards it is a short walk into the picturesque village of Thornham and adjacent to the well-known Wildlife reserve at Holme-next-Sea.Thornham Bay is located at Drove Orchards just off the Norfolk Coast road. Drove Orchards also has a popular farm shop and canvas café onsite. The campsite is a 20 minute stroll through the salt marshes to a very special secluded beach adjacent to the Norfolk Wild Life Trust at Holme Dunes. Here over 320 different bird species have been seen at this beautiful nature reserve located on the fringes of Thornham. This pretty coastal village has three pubs, one owned By Marco Pierre-White, one Norfolk's dining pub of the year and the other a Pizzeria! There is direct access to the Norfolk coastal path and the award winning Coast Hopper bus service can take you anywhere along this beautiful coastline and back home again every half an hour. They are two sets of four lodges, which is ideal if you want to take several lodges and bring along friends and family.
When you arrive at your destination you will be met by Carrie who will give you a quick run down on how things work such as lighting the stove, using the shower and where to find what you may need for the week. You will then be left to settle into your abode for the week but if anything crops up that you need help with, Carrie visits the site daily. You can even opt to take on the responsibility for looking after the chicken coop. This is highly recommended, as the kids will love checking for fresh eggs each morning!
The Safari Tents
These tents are so well equipped you will absolutely love the adventure of camping beneath the stars and having the luxury of beds, running water, a loo and a shower. Wild Luxury lodges offer over 600 square feet of top quality safari style accommodation. Kitchens are fitted with a wood-burning range cooker, sink unit with kitchen tap, dresser and gas stove. Sleeping accommodation is warm and cosy with a master bedroom, twin/bunk second bedroom and very popular sleeping cupboard with room for two young children. There is also a dining area, open air veranda and rear veranda with private loo and hot camp shower.
Everything you will need for your stay down to cutlery and utensils is provided. You are entitled to a sack of wood per day and you also get a pack of about 40 starter pellets to assist with lighting your stove, which should last the whole of your stay. There is also a fire pit outside which you must make the most of by taking a bag of marshmallows to toast on the fire and enjoy the last rays of the day - just idyllic.
There is a small on- site honesty shop for any forgotten provisions that you may be need. Wild Luxury also provide meals that you can either cook yourself or simply put on the range and warm up for a delicious instant meal. If you don't want to fill the car up with sheets and bedding you can opt to pay an extra charge for these to be supplied as well.
There is so much to do and experience on camp from bike rides down ancient trails to nature walks, making friends with the animals, kite flying, family games and just relaxing.
A holiday at Wild Luxury is where time slows down and the trivial seems unimportant. A pace where it is easy to focus on the important things in life, each other and having fun in a really special place where the modern world seems so small and the real world so big.
