Eco Camp UK
Stylish ecological woodland camping, set in a beautiful campsite with open fires, within a five acre bluebell wood in the heart of Sussex. Our woodland campsite is located in the High Weald, a designated Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.
Eco Camp UK offer a unique holiday ‘glamping’ experience, an opportunity to camp side by side with nature, whilst enjoying the comfort of our fully equipped bell tents.
With the bell tents set apart in the trees giving solitude and privacy, the woodland campsite also provides a central gathering point around an open fire to meet and chat.
Wild Boar Wood and its surrounding 40 acre field teem with wildlife; birds, butterflies, deer, rabbit, hedgehogs and foxes make their homes in the field and woodland.
Adults and children alike can enjoy a range of wildlife and woodcraft courses and guided walks to enhance their experience of nature.
Close by the woodland campsite, the River Ouse meanders through the countryside, offering delightful and scenic walks along its banks to the welcoming local hostelries.
The peace and tranquillity is interrupted only by the historic and spectacular Bluebell Railway locomotives as they occasionally thunder past the edge of the woodland campsite!
Eco Camp UK is a woodland campsite, with open fire camping, in a private wood in Sussex. We provide Bell Tent “glamping” accommodation in an ecological woodland campsite setting.
Eco Camp UK is based on a philosophy of living lightly on the land in harmony with nature.
• We do not use any electricity at the site; lighting is provided by solar lamps, wind-up lanterns and candles.
• The water for our unique eco showers is heated in a wood-fired stove set at the bottom of the tree (coming in August – hot water heated on our wood-fired eco stoves and a bucket shower until then!).
• Each bell tent has an open fire pit for cooking and relaxing around.
• Each bell tent has its own award winning wood-fired eco camp stove (originally developed for the third world).
• Compost toilets are dry and fresh and completely biodegradable (good nutrition for the trees!)
• All vehicles are parked away from the site, with wheelbarrows provided to carry provisions and bedding the short walk across the field.
• All rubbish is taken away from the site, leaving no trace.
• No electronic music permitted, to avoid all noise pollution (singing ok!)
We encourage an experience of discovery….
At Eco Camp you can take time to get to know the environment of beautiful Sussex. You can learn to recognise the indigenous trees; oak, beech, hornbeam, birch, ash, holly and hazel. You can listen to and identify the many and varied songbirds. Spot the tracks and habitat of the local wildlife, and learn the names and properties of the woodland plants.
