Upton Manor Farm Camping Site

Situated in a lovely area near St. Mary's Bay, Upton Manor Farm Camping Site combines the pleasure of a park in the countryside close by the sea and the lively fishing town of Brixham, with easy access to the surrounding towns and beauty spots of Torbay, Dartmoor, Dartmouth and South Hams. This is friendly family run site endeavouring to help you enjoy your stay in Torbay.

The park is well drained and there are toilet blocks with flush toilets, dish-washing facilities and power points for hair driers, electric razors and baby changing area. There is free hot water in the showers and wash basins, where a high standard of cleanliness is maintained. There is a well appointed launderette with washing machines and tumble driers. Water points are conveniently placed around the park. Freezer pack service, camp supplies, Camping Gaz and Calor Gas are obtainable at the office.

Brixham with its quaint old streets, picturesque fishing harbour and fish market, offers the visitor a wide variety of interests, and there are many lovely scenic country and cliff walks. A good bus service during the day operating between the park and Brixham town centre, which is within a mile.

The safe sandy beach of St. Mary's Bay, is only ten minutes walk away. There are numerous other sandy or pebble beaches in the Brixham and Torbay area, all with very safe bathing and the famous fishing spot, Sharkham Point, is very near.

In Brixham's attractive harbour fishing boats can be hired or fishing trips arranged. Salmon, sea trout and brown trout may be caught on the rivers Dart and Teign.

Brixham is an ideal centre for touring those places of interest and scenic beauty for which Devon is well known. A few examples are Buckfast Abbey, Saltram House, Plymouth Hoe, Exeter Cathedral, Dartington Hall and, of course, Dartmoor National Park.

Many famous artistes appear in the plays, musicals, family shows and concerts that are presented in the popular Princess Theatre Torquay throughout the season. The cinemas of Torquay and Paignton are all within easy reach. Paignton Zoo, the Living Coast, Kent's Cavern, the Model Village, The Dart River Railway, and the Aquaria of Brixham and Torquay are all well worth a visit. For the more energetic there are swimming pools, a golf course, a go-kart track and a Cayman golf course in the Torbay area and also many interesting coastal walks. Torbay is famous for its excellent sailing conditions arid there are many good harbours affording the finest launching facilities. Water skiing and jet ski activities are also very popular.

The Campsite

There are 70 electric hook-ups available.

All facilities are maintained to a high standard, with free hot water available at all times. Water points are conveniently situated around the park.

There is a wide range of shops in Brixham town centre, also a supermarket and bakery in St Mary's Square nearby and a small supermarket in Castor Road both minutes away. Major supermarkets are located by Paignton Zoo (Morrisons), and on the Ring Road in Paington (Sainsburys)

The Camp is located just under a mile from Brixham town centre. A good bus service operates during the day.

As this is a family site, we regret that we are unable to accommodate all male or female groups.

We ask all campers to respect the rights of our other guests to enjoy a peaceful holiday.

The Area

The English Riviera has something to offer everyone.

Bathing at St. Mary's Bay, a safe sandy beach, is only ten minutes walk away actually two thirds of a mile. There are numerous other sandy or pebble beaches in the Brixham and Torbay area, all with very safe bathing. There is a swimming pool in Brixham, and an open air sea water pool at Sharkham Point.

Tours are a speciality of the area and Brixham is an ideal centre for touring those places of interest and scenic beauty for which Devon is well known. A few examples are Buckfast Abbey, Saltram House, Dartington Hall, and Dartmoor National Park.

Boat trips around the coast to Dartmouth and across Torbay to Torquay can be taken from Brixham Harbour. Trips up the river Dart to Totnes can be taken from Dartmouth. Self drive boats can be hired in Brixham and Dartmouth. Historic Brixham sailing trawlers like the Vigilance can be seen around the harbour, and trips on them are offered.

Browsing is interesting in historic Totnes and Dartmouth with their more unusual shops and restaurants.

Exploring along the coast from Dartmouth to Salcombe with its wonderful scenery is a delight.

Entertainment is available throughout the summer season in Torquay where many famous artistes appear in the plays and musicals. Family shows and concerts are presented in the theatre.

There is a multi-screen cinema at Paignton with all the latest movies.

Visits to Paignton Zoo or the Living Coast the famous caves at Kent's Cavern, are all well worthwhile.

There are National Trust Gardens at Coleton Fishacre, and Greenaway - the home of the late Dame Agatha Christie. Opening times are limited, check with the National Trust before travelling.

Steam trains run from Kingswear to Paignton, with free parking at Churston Station. Further inland is the Dart Valley Railway and the South Devon Railway.

Fishing from Sharkham Point, a famous fishing spot is very near the Camp Site. In Brixham's attractive harbour fishing boats can be hired or fishing trips arranged.

For the more energetic: take your pick from swimming pools, sports centres, a go-kart track, bowling, watersports, golf, and interesting coastal walks. Torbay is famous for its excellent sailing conditions and there are many good harbours affording the finest launching facilities.
