France on a budget

If you are looking for a rural retreat in the heart of France, we have a mobile home and two caravans for hire, set in approximately 4 acres, well spaced, and with beautiful views. We are 40 minutes from Limoges, in the department of La Creuse, an area of rolling countryside filled with public paths and quiet country lanes. There are numerous lakes 1 hour or less away some offering fishing, boat trips, and other watersports.

Other local attractions include Les Loops des Chabrieres (The Forest of Wolves), near Guéret, where deep in the forest the wolves still roam in large enclosures. There are many chateaux and museums to visit, and only a day trip away are the volcanic mountains near Clemont Ferrand which has a large visitors centre. Ten minutes away is Bourganeuf which has a large supermarket, local shops, banks, tourist information, cinema, and a small golf course.

Mobile Home
10.5 meters x 4 meters, 1 double bedroom, 1 bedroom with three bunks, plus additional double bed facilities in the lounge, allowing sleeping facilities for up to seven, but more suitable for 1 or 2 couples. There is a large shower room and separate w. c. The large kitchen is equipped with full size cooker, fridge / freezer and microwave. The lounge / dining area has French doors leading out onto the patio area, where garden furniture is provided.

4 Berth Caravan
7 meters, with a fixed double bed measuring 120cm x 200cm, plus additional double bed facilities in the lounge. There is mains electric and mains water, and gas blown air heating, making it suitable for all year round use. There is a small shower room wc with flushing toilet.

The kitchen has a 4 ring hob, oven, microwave and fridge, cutlery and basic cooking utensils are provided. The lounge/diner has a folding table. In the summer months an awning is provided to give additional living space, with garden table and chairs.

2 Berth Caravan
2 Berth Caravan 5 meters, offers combined lounge/bedroom and has a large shower & flushing toilet. The kitchen area has a 2 burner hob, oven, fridge, microwave, cutlery and cooking utensils. It has mains electricity and water. In summer an awning is provided with table and chairs.

The Area

La Creuse
The area of La Creuse is department 23 of the Limousin. It is an area of unspoilt natural beauty with clean air, unpolluted by traffic or industry. If you are looking for a holiday with a slower pace of life and tranquillity, La Creuse is for you.

For the nature lover there are many paths through forests where one may be lucky enough to see wild boar, deer and many species of birds, butterflies etc.

For the cyclist many of the small lanes in the area are quiet and boast splendid views across valleys from the hilltops. If you feel adventurous all the public paths are open to cyclists.

For fishing, permits can be bought in most towns and these allow you to fish in most public lakes and rivers.

During the summer boot sales (vide grenier) and brocantes are in abundance where beautiful old furniture can be bought at bargain prices, and of course, anything else that appeals.

Lac de Vassiviére is 35 minutes from us, where on days when you are feeling energetic you can go horse riding, enjoy water sports, swim or sunbathe on the sandy beaches. Alternatively, take a picnic or take a cruise and enjoy a meal on the boat.

La Creuse is filled with villages caught in a time warp with beautiful old buildings and churches to numerous to mention here. If you fancy a larger shopping experience, Limoges is only 40 minutes away where in amongst the older buildings are modern designer shops.

Guéret is the capital of La Creuse, smaller than Limoges with fewer shops but nevertheless, a beautiful town to visit.

Les Loup de Chabrieres (Forest of Wolves) is just outside Guéret where wolves roam in large enclosures.
