This secluded camping park is set on the outskirts of the small village of Newchurch in the beautiful Arreton Valley, with its numerous country walks. In this pleasant rural setting the site offers flat, level well drained meadow land with facilities to a very high standard. The Park, first opened in 1981, aims to give the discerning camper, whether he is in a caravan, motor caravan or tent, an ideal centre from which to enjoy his holiday.
Within easy reach of some of the Island's finest beaches, the Park is just off the beaten track. Sandown and Shanklin are only three miles by road; both these towns share the same sheltered bay with its sandy beaches and safe bathing. With good access the Park is sheltered by an established belt of trees and all the pitches are level, individually marked and generous in size; the water points and soakaways are at frequent intervals. A children's play area is provided. The Park is run by the owners Viv and Vanessa McGuinness who live on site, and whose aim is to provide a friendly atmosphere in a peaceful setting.
Fresh milk and other basic supplies, including Camping Gaz and Calor, are available from the combined shop and reception. The highest priority is given to the upkeep of the Park and in particular to the cleanliness of the toilet and shower facilities. Hard work and diligence in all areas has resulted in the Park achieving the Tourist Board's coveted 5 star 'Excellent' Rating.

The Island offers a great diversity of scenery and activities. Half the Island is designated an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and there are over 120 attractions and places of interest to visit. The Park itself is located in an ideal position to reach all parts of the Island. There are pleasant walks and bicycle rides; for example from the Park you can get on to a track that follows the route of the old railway and this offers a relatively flat route to Sandown. Within a mile of the Park there is coarse fishing and for those interested in gardening several garden centres.
Newchurch village is five minutes on foot and there you will find a pleasant country inn which serves food and a Norman Church. Further afield there are many activities available including fishing - both sea and freshwater, golf, tennis, squash, indoor swimming, horse riding, seabathing, windsurfing, sailing, etc. Most of the places of interest are situated in the eastern part of the Island, within a few miles of the Park. For anyone wishing to visit the western end, the Needles are only 19 miles away.
Wireless Hot Spot
As high-speed connectivity is becoming increasingly important for today's computer users locations where they can get online easily are becoming more popular.
Now that Broadband has reached Newchurch we have installed the same type of equipment as you can find in stations, hotels, coffee shops and airports. So if you need to keep in touch with the outside world while you are on holiday and you have a wireless computer bring it with you. Then you can connect free of charge to the Internet and pick up and send your emails within Southland Camping Park.
For those of you who know the Park the Hot Spot is all around the picnic area.
