Invercaimbe Croft and Caravan Site

A true West Highland working croft holiday destination where we breed traditional Highland Cattle and Highland Ponies on a beachfront location overlooking the Small Isles with moorings for boats.

We are located just about 1.5 miles North of Arisaig on the old coastal road to Mallaig at the start of the famous white sandy beaches that are more often associated with the White Sands of Morar but start here at Bunacaimb, which is an old fashioned crofting township.

It is possible to fish on the Caimbe Burn (small river) which flows through the croft and there is lots of rare wildlife, flora and fauna to be seen. We are very environmentally sensitive and the croft is entered in the Rural Stewardship Scheme designed to encourage biodiversity and this can be evidenced by the amount of birds and other species that can be seen at The Caimbe, including a wide variety of waders at low tide and inshore sea birds when the tide is full.

These include Meregansers and Eider ducks and waders such as Redshank and Whimbrel. The croft land also provides a breeding ground for Skylark Lapwing and Wheatear. Otters breed on the Caimbe and have been known to bring their young down to feed in September in full view of the caravan site. Whales and Dolphins are in residence not far offshore in the Sound of Arisaig and locally run boat trips are available to see them and of course to see the seals which can even be seen on rocks on the shore very close to the Caimbe.

Our ancestors have lived at Invercaimbe for generations and we are enthusiastic to share our enthusiasm for our Highland Heritage and our experience of the Crofting Lifestyle. Our family have also been breeding Highland Ponies and Cattle and we have records which go back 150 years ago, depending on the season you can see calves and foals on the croft too.

We are only 1/2 mile short walk to the Cnoc Na Faire Hotel, where there is a bar and food served, and only just over a mile from the village of Arisaig and all its facilities. We are a great touring base for visiting the Highlands, Skye, Ardnamurachan and the Small Isles.

Locally there are guided ranger walks and lots of opportunities for walking, cycling as well as fishing. There is a golf course at Traigh only 2 mikes away. We are 8 miles from Mallaig.

ARISAIG 2 miles; has a grocers, hotels, restaurants, take-away and Land, Sea and Islands centre. You can take trips to Eigg, Rhum, Much and Canna from Arisaig Marina.

MALLAIG 9 miles, is a busy fishing village with a selection of shops, Marine world, swimming pool, heritage centre and trips to all the islands. The steam train visits during the summer months and several restaurants serve locally caught seafood.

MORAR 6 miles, has been used as the backdrop for several well know productions including The Flight of The Heron, Rob Roy and Local Hero.

Ardnamurchan Lighthouse is worth a visit, the scenery spectacular on route and at the peninsula. While you are here there are several walks you can try, a Coastal Ranger will take you on guided walks or just explore on your own.

There is also fishing locally, hire a boat on Loch Morar or try the Caimbe burn and hill Lochs for brown trout.

If you enjoy golf there is a nine-hole golf course 1 mile from the site at Traigh Beach.
